DR. MARTIN C. REYNOLDS

Martin C. Reynolds was born in Little Rock, Arkansas.  He attended the University of Central Arkansas (BME 1987), The University of Maryland (MM 1989), and The University of Arizona (DMA 2002).  He currently serves as Director of Bands at Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau.  In this role, he directs the Wind Symphony, the Golden Eagles Marching Band, the Show Band, and teaches in the music teacher preparation curriculum.

Dr. Reynolds experience in higher education has allowed him to serve as Director of Bands at The University of Alabama at Birmingham (2001-2002), Assistant Director of Bands at The University of Arkansas (2000-2001), Associate Director of Bands at New Mexico State University (1999-2000), and as Director of Bands at the University of Arkansas at Monticello (1990-1995).  His performing ensembles have appeared at the Las Vegas Bowl, the Tazon Aztec Bowl in Mexico City, as guest entertainment for the Denver Broncos (NFL), meetings of the Arkansas Music Educators Association, and the National Meeting of the American School Band Directors Association.  Dr. Reynolds has conducted world premiere musical performances by the composers Samuel Holloman, L.A. Logrande, and J. Clifton Williams.

His secondary public school teaching experience includes positions as Band Director at J.O. Kelly Middle School in the Springdale (AR) Public Schools (2003-2010), Director of Bands/Coordinator of Instrumental Music for the Alma (AR) Public Schools (1995-96), Director of Bands/Fine Arts Coordinator for the Warren (AR) Public Schools (1989-90), and Associate Director of Bands at Springdale (AR) Senior High School (1989).  The Alma High School Concert Band was selected as the Outstanding Concert Ensemble at the 1996 Showcase Festival Competition in Nashville.  His bands have consistently gained significant recognition for superior performance in marching and concert settings.

Through his professional association with Radio City Music Hall Productions and Walt Disney Entertainment, he has served as Assistant Conductor for the “We the People” Fanfare Unit (CBS TV), the Opening Ceremonies of the International Summer Special Olympics (ABC TV), and the All-American College Symphony Orchestra at Walt Disney World’s EPCOT Center.

He has served as clinician and adjudicator in Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Florida, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, Missouri, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, and Washington, D.C.  Dr. Reynolds continues to be in demand as conductor/adjudicator for all types of instrumental music events.
